A New Bird in the Yard!

Just when I thought things couldn't get any slower on the birding front, it happened.  A new bird in the yard!  It looked like a cross between a wren and a nuthatch as it moved around the tree trunk.  I grabbed the binoculars to be sure.  YES, a Brown Creeper!  I have seen them before but not in my yard at this house.  I do enjoy and appreciate the everyday feeder birds and other regular visitors to my yard, but have to admit that I get extra excited when I can add a new bird to my yard list!   More about bird lists later...

The Brown Creeper is not a rare bird, but they are uncommon and transient when they move into this area in the winter.  Some people see them more regularly in their neighborhoods and others do not.  Until now I was in the "do not" group.  This was a good bird day!
